Advanced Viewer Help - Select

The Select widget enables interactive selection of features on the map and take the actions on the selected features. The selected features can be passed on to other tools as input, such as the Geoprocessing, Attribute Table, Directions tool, and so on. The selection actions include the following:

  • Zoom to—The default.
  • Pan to—The default.
  • Flash—The default.
  • Export to CSV file—Not available for a single feature.
  • Export to Feature Collection—Not available for a single feature.
  • Export to GeoJSON—Not available for a single feature.
  • Show Pop-up—Not available for a set of features.
  • Show Related Records—Shows when the features have related records.
  • Statistics—Not available for a single feature. It only summarizes the field with numeric type.
  • Create Layer—Not available for a single feature.
  • View in Attribute Table—Requires the Attribute Table tool configured to show the selected layer.
  • Edit—Requires the Edit tool configured to edit the selected layer.
  • Set as Incident—Requires the Incident Analysis tool and a single feature.
  • Set as Input of Geoprocessing—Requires the Geoprocessing tool to configure the geoprocessing service accordingly based on the selected layer.
  • Directions to here—Requires the Directions tool and a single feature.
  • Directions from here—Requires the Directions tool and a single feature.
  • Clear selection—The default.
    Caution: Some of the actions above may not be available, depending on a single feature or a set of features and tools configured in the app.
  1. Click the Select tool icon to open it.
  2. Choose the desired layer or layers by checking the box.
  3. Hover over the Select button. Select By Rectangle has the following actions.
    • Drag the mouse on the map to create a new selection.
    • Press the Shift key while dragging the mouse on the map to add selected features to the selection.
    • Press the Ctrl key while dragging the mouse on the map to remove selected features from the selection.
  4. Click Select and draw on the map to select features. If more than one selection tool is configured, click the arrow on Select to choose the tool in the menu.
    The number of selected features display next to the layer.
  5. Click the ellipsis (…) to open the Selection Actions drop-down menu.
    Feature set actions
    • Click one of the actions, for example, Statistics. Choose the desired field for the statistics.
    • Click Create Layer to create a new graphic layer on the map. It can be turned on or off in the Layer List tool.
    • Click Export to CSV file if the Allow to export selected features option was checked during configuration. A CSV file is generated locally for the feature set.
    • Click the rest of the actions, if desired.
  6. Click X or the main panel to close the drop-down menu.
  7. Alternatively click the number to display the list of features. Click the ellipsis (…) next to the feature to open the selection actions drop-down menu.
    Single feature actions
    • Click one of the actions, for example, Directions from Here. The feature location becomes one of the destinations on the Directions tool.
    • Click Set as Incident. The feature location becomes the incident with a 10-mile buffer around it.
    • Click the rest of the actions, if desired.
  8. Click the Back buttonBack buttonto return to the main panel.
  9. Click Clear to clear all the selections.
